This study was carried out to investigate the applicability of ELISA in determination of T-2 toxin and to examine the contamination of Korean grains with T-2 toxin and its producing fungi. A total of 203 Fusarium spp. were isolated from 435 collected samples, of which 4 isolates produced T-2 toxin when cultured on rice grain and screened by TLC. Their ability to produce T-2 toxin ranged 1-332 and 8-306 §¶/g media by GC and ELISA methods, respectively and the two methods showed a good agreement. In applying an indirect competitive ELISA method on 60 rice samples collected from Youngnam district, 23 samples were found to be contaminated with T-2 toxin whose level ranged from 0.4 to 50.0 ng/g, the positive mean being 13.3 ng/g.
